Meta Description Tags and Their Importance

One of the most important elements is the title that is included in the head section of the site’s source code. If title tracking is not done, the page will appear whatever is in the Page title passed down to the page. For example, if you include ‘Big Acorn Baking Company’ as the title of the company, then the site will appear in the SERPs under that title. When designing with SEO in mind, a title of between 50 to 70 characters is preferable.

A vague title such as ‘Big Acorn Baking Company’ will have no impact on traffic.

Your title should be as appealing as possible to ensure a higher Click-through rate.

Descriptive Anchor Text:

The anchor text is the text that appears in links that point users to other pages on your site. For example, an anchor text of ‘Baking Company’ might lead users to a page about Mia’s favourite pastries. A descriptive anchor text, such as ‘Mia’s favourite pastries’, will increase the likelihood of users visiting a page about Mia’s favourite pastries.

Having ‘Mia’s favourite pastries’ as the anchor text for all the firm’s web pages will ensure that the anchor text for users searching for ‘Mia’s favourite pastries’ will be directed to the web pages about Mia’s favourite pastries.

Keyword Optimization:

An important SEO factor is Keyword Optimization. Keywords are important for SEO because search engines use keywords to identify your site. The keywords used in meta tags, in the content, and anchor text will help search engines to correctly identify your site, and will help to improve your site’s position in the search engine rankings.

The title tag is one of the most important on-page elements. Titles are important for two reasons. Firstly, they give search engines a bar-graph of what your site is about, and they are also what internet users see when they view your listing in the search engine results. Secondly, they play an important role in helping your prospective customers to know what your site is about, and develop the content of your site. Titles are therefore important for both internet users and search engines. For users looking for your site, and for search engines, titles are important in giving them a way to identify the topic of your site.

For SEO purposes, the title of your webpages are what you see first, so carefully consider how you arrange your keywords in your title. You should avoid titles like ‘Welcome to our website’ or ‘Home’. For both these titles, simply include your keywords, but be careful not to overuse your keywords. When putting titles in the body of your posts, be sure to include your keywords naturally in the title. Using keywords in your meta tag description is also important.

  • Keywords should be in the first 90 characters of your titles.
  • Avoid using too many or all of these keywords in your title.
  • Your title should engage your customer, not repeat the title in every line.
  • Use the words you want to rank for in your titles.

Instead of using ‘welcome to our website’, use all of these words in a natural way, like a sentence. Write your titles short, but descriptive and brief, you should also aim to use no more than 3 keywords in a title. Use different titles for each page of your site, including your top level domain name. Each web page should have a unique title. Use Google’s Keyword Tool to help find the right keywords for your site. In addition, do not stuff your titles with keywords.

You should maintain a high calling rate for your title tags so that they do not look like spam. A high percentage of your titles will be ignored by search engines, and by this, you can ensure that your rankings will not rise to that much. Furthermore, write interesting titles that will make people want to click on your listings. You should perform your own keyword research to get the right titles for your web pages. Always use original titles for each web page on your site. Your titles should accurately describe your web pages. You should make your titles and meta descriptions for humans, not for search engine spiders. Use a cache analyser or another tool to get the new URL from your previous URL.
